Susan spent her childhood in Charlotte, N.C. and Wilmington, Del. She attended the Delaware County Christian School where she was captain and MVP of the Tennis Team. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Delaware in 1986. Her career in cardiac care nursing brought her to the University of Virginia, the Texas Heart Center, and Dallas' Baylor University Medical Center. She met her husband, Bob, at UVa's amphitheater. Susan was a loving daughter to Ray and Jane Dunton, and a loving sister to her brothers, Jim, Scott, and Stephen, all of whom she ?absolutely cherished. She was a loving wife and friend to Bob, and a Super-Mom to Lauren, Stephen, Ryan, and Caroline (the mileage on the mini-van proves it). She was a zoo keeper to pets too numerous to list. While managing a very busy house and family, she still found time to volunteer at the Charlottesville Catholic School, Vacation Bible School, Meals on Wheels, and the Covenant School. Susan was a woman of faith who loved her Lord. She loved her family that was her center. She had a smile that not only brightened the room, but lit up the day. She absolutely loved a good laugh. It would be Susan's wish for all of us to pray more, to laugh more, and to find a way to love our families just a little bit more. If we can do each of these every day (and I am borrowing a bit from Jimmy V) that is a great day, a really great day. The Wilders wish to thank the Charlottesville community for their love and support through this journey, particularly the caring staff at the UVa Medical Center and Emily Couric Center, Drs. Fadul and Larner and Amanda Lane, the Hospice of the Piedmont, the Covenant School, the Charlottesville Track Club and friends and family simply too numerous to list. Special thanks to her sisters-in-laws Kathy, Connie, and Monica for caring for her and being the sisters she never had. A memorial service will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 1 p.m. with a reception immediately following at Saint Thomas. Susan will be put to rest at a later date in Wilmington, Del. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UVA Cancer Center in memory of Susan Wilder, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908-0773. Condolences may be offered to the family at teaguefuneralhome.com
