Obituary of Susie Ann Aycock Bunish
Susie Ann Aycock Bunish, 85, of Charlottesville,Virginia, passed away on March 15, 2019 at the Heritage Inn Assisted Living Facility. She had been a resident there for almost 5 years suffering with Dementia. She is no longer suffering and her mind and body is at peace. She was born on December 15, 1933 in Nash County, NC., the daughter of William Van Aycock and Ophelia Taylor Aycock, who made a life farming and raising 12 kids. She graduated from Enfield High School May 27, 1953. While attending Enfield High School she was one of the students who learned to drive the school bus and took on the responsibility of getting other students to and from school every day. She married Billy Lynn McCurry, Sept. 20, 1954. Upon their divorce, Jan. 13, 1958, she made a life for herself and her two children in Washington DC. She went to work for Lerner Shops as a bookkeeper until she took a job with Riggs National Bank. Not shortly after going to work for Riggs she moved us to Takoma Park Maryland. She met Victor H. Bunish and they married, April 28, 1968. Vic was a sergeant in the Army stationed at Cameron Station in Alexandria, Va. The family moved to be closer to the base until he retired, then finally settling down in Dale City, Virginia. While still at Riggs she worked her way from a teller position to become a loan officer until she retired in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor H. Bunish; her parents, William Van Aycock and Ophelia Taylor Aycock; her great grandson, Gabriel Thomas Zimmer; her sister, Allene Hux; her brothers, Percy William Aycock, William Van Jr. Aycock, Alton Jerome Aycock, George Jackson “Jack” Aycock, Daniel “Dan” Lawrence Aycock and Larry Wayne Aycock. Survived by her daughter, Billie Lynn Jenkins (Joyce); her son, Robert Wayne McCurry (Vicki); her grandson, James Michael Jenkins; her granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Zimmer (Aaron); her grandsons, Gage Ryan Jenkins and Lucas Avery Zimmer; her granddaughters, Aurora Grace Jenkins and Tessa Ren Zimmer; her sisters, Nancy Emily Bass and Martha Jane Dennis (Tony); her brothers, David Lee Aycock (Virginia) and Tommy Eugene Aycock (Cotrisha); and several nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest beside Victor H. Bunish at Quantico National Cemetery, Grave 40, Section 3,18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, Virginia 22172.
