

Tim was born on May 9th, 1945 to William Henry Rogers and Mary Catherine Rogers in Charlottesville, VA. Tim attended Oak Hill Academy and graduated from the National College, Evanston, IL with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences. He joined the Navy at 17, picked up the nickname T.C., and spent the next 21 years proudly serving his country as a Cryptologic Technician in duty stations from Illinois, Florida, Hawaii, Guam, Maryland, Texas, Germany, and Diego Garcia. Returning to Virginia, he excelled during a 14 year tour as a Navy recruiter and ended his career at the Navy Research Lab, Washington, D.C. as a Senior Chief Cryptologist. Tim spent the next 23 years working in the intelligence field for TRW (later Northrup Grumman) in many roles from individual contributor to project manager. He ended his career at NGIC in Charlottesville, VA. He was widely respected and mentored many young people into the STEM technology field. The legacy he left is immeasurable.
Tim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Mary Melinda Rogers (Mindy), his daughter, Timi Lynne Rogers and Ed, his son, Paul Jason Rogers (PJ) and Leslie, and his beloved grandchildren, Mandy Rogers and Will, Brittany Rogers and Steven, Brittany Stull, Dylan Rogers and Timothy Rogers, and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Rogers. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Yvonne and the late Charles Harris, the late Jean Sullivan and her husband Gilbert, William H Rogers, Jr (Billy) and his wife Sharyon, Ann Yates and her husband David, Barbara Worley and her husband Wendall, Diana Via and her husband Charles, Bradley Rogers, Charles Rogers and his wife Ruth, Sylvia Walton and her husband Tommy, Rebecca Balzer and her husband Craig, Zane Rogers and his wife Donna, and Lois Payne and her husband Stan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends that were more like family.
In addition to his parents, Tim was predeceased by his sister, Jean Sullivan, and his brother-in-law, Charles Harris.
Tim loved to work in the yard and garden, outbid others at antique auctions, go to car shows, bowl, and play golf. He volunteered with the Lions Club in Woodbridge, VA, and was an active member of VFW Post 2044 in Earlysville, VA. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his sister Jean’s basket class and the annual soup night he and Mindy hosted for his brothers and sisters. He loved to swap stories with his fellow VFW members, friends and family, especially the old-timers. He loved to sit on the porch and enjoy the mountain views. Near the end, he could be found trying to watch as many different sports on TV as he could at one time and visiting with a much appreciated stream of friends and family. He loved to laugh and never lost his sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, May 2rd at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, 550 Buck Mountain Road, Earlysville, VA 22936, with a reception immediately following in the church hall. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Tuesday, May 1nd at the Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
