Ty dedicated over two decades to his career as a manager at Sears before pursuing his passion for home improvement by starting his own renovation and construction business. In recent years, he worked as an estimator for Virginia Asphalt Services, Inc., where his expertise and dedication were highly valued.
A devoted family man, Ty shared 53 wonderful years with his wife, Judy Heilman. He is lovingly remembered by his sons Chris Heilman (Kerri) and Bryan Heilman (Scottye), as well as his cherished grandchildren Drew, Evan (Sydney), Miranda, Matthew, Gray, Liza and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his son Nick Heilman.
Ty’s life was marked by his generosity and fun-loving spirit. He gave back to the community as a youth football coach and founded a local Fathers & Sons softball league that brought families together through sports. A passionate fan of UVA athletics and Commanders football, Ty’s enthusiasm for sports was infectious. Ty also loved gardening and caring for his dogs Coco and Cody. He made many great memories on vacation in Aruba with Judy and in the Outer Banks with his family.
A celebration of Ty’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peachtree Baseball & Softball. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his legacy of kindness and joy continue to inspire those he touched.
