Warren was born on September 1, 1933, Tampa, Florida to the late Elbert Fisher and Frances Fisher. Warren was commissioned as a Navy Pilot after completing his bachelor’s degree in 1956 and served for 20 years, retiring in 1976 as Lieutenant Commander. He flew off of the naval carrier Yorktown in the Pacific.
Music and his Christian faith were always very important to Warren, and singing in the church choir was central in his life. He was usually lead bass and soloist. He met Barbara Rogers in church in Long Beach, California. Warren led their Sunday school class singing hymns, while Barbara accompanied on the piano. Warren and Barbara married April 19th. 1958. They moved to Slidell, Louisiana after Warren went on reserve status in the Navy. They lived there for 40 years before moving to Salem, Virginia in 2007, accompanied by their son, David, to be near their daughter, Debra, who lives in Charlottesville. Warren and Barbara moved to Charlottesville in 2017.
Warren became a piano technician after leaving the Navy. He liked figuring out how to take things apart and then put them back together again, and taught his children how to do the same. He read voraciously, rarely ever going anywhere without a book. He passed that on to his children also. After retirement, he and Barbara took a 5th-wheel camper all over the United States and Canada, sailing the land-yacht.
In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Fisher, and his son, William Fisher.
Warren is survived by his wife, Barbara Fisher, his daughter, Debra Fisher, and his son, David Fisher.
