Obituary of William Randolph Burruss
William Randolph Burruss, aged 96, passed away at his home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 19, 2022. On October 30, 1925, a son and the sixth child of Virginia Ann (Wood) and Willie Warren Burruss was born in Boonesville Virginia. His name was William Randolph. Except for the two stints he served in the Army – 1 year stateside and 1 year in Germany – and a brief time that he lived in Maryland with his older brother Bob and his wife Sis, Randolph lived his entire adult life on Markwood Road in Earlysville Virginia with his wife of 76 years Bobbie (Birckhead). There they bought a farm and raised three children – Randolph Craig, Virginia Ann and Melanie Eileen. He was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Lee Burruss. He is survived by his son, Craig Burruss and his wife Margaret; two daughters, Virginia (Ginger) Nofziger and her husband Robin, and Melanie White and her husband Paul. He also survived by grandchildren, Jessica and Amanda Burruss, Amy Becker, Ian Nofziger, and Derek-Eli Nofziger; great grandchildren Hannah, Seth and Aidan; and great-great grandchild Virginia. Randolph was a man devoted to his family and to the Lord. He expressed this devotion with practical service as well as tenderness. In regards to his devotion to the Lord, he continued throughout his life to grow in his knowledge and love of the Lord, and never considered himself as having arrived at a plateau, but always knowing there was more to learn and experience of God’s love. Randolph was a hard-working man who loved laboring on his farm. He actively worked the farm into his 90s, and even after his body didn’t allow that kind of activity, he was always problem solving. He also loved to labor in service to others. He was generous with his time and his energy whenever he came across a person in need of help. Randolph had a reservoir of down-to-earth wisdom that he could convey in a way that anyone could understand and apply. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday September 22, 2022 at the home of William Randolph and Bobbie Burruss in Earlysville VA.
