William Donald Melton

William Donald Melton, 76, of Charlottesville, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at his home. Born December 31, 1940, he was a son of the late Bernard and Minnie Johnson Melton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn D. Melton; sister, Charlotte Melton Breeden; and brother-in-law, Greg Breeden. Don is survived by his daughter, Karen Wessells; brother, Bernard "Sonny" Melton; sister, Joyce Suddarth and her husband, James; nephew, J.T. Suddarth and his children, Carter and Virginia; niece, Tracy Breeden Perez and her husband, Joe and their children, Autumn and Jacob; granddaughter, Jackie Krnic; and sister-in-law, Melva Jarrell. Don will also be sorely missed by special friend, Delma Buchanan. Don served his country in the US Army. He was an optician for Charlottesville Eye Associates for many years. Don was laid to rest next to his wife at Monticello Memory Gardens’ mausoleum after a private family graveside service. Military honors were presented by American Legion Post 74.
