Obituary of William Dean Payne
William Dean Payne passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville, VA on November 27, 2019. Born October 31, 1958 in Tampa, FL. He was the son of Roy and Lucille (Crane) Payne. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his twin brother, Brook T. Payne. Bill has lived in Virginia all of his life, residing in the areas of Richmond, Powhatan, Henrico and Chincoteague, VA. He was raised in Powhatan county and graduated High School there, where he excelled in Building Trades. Bill, a dedicated and hard worker, went on to work a variety of jobs as a construction laborer, a traveling sales rep, and a factory worker at Phillip Morris. Bill was an experienced and gifted Brick and Stone Mason and was self employed, operating WDP Co &Inc. Bill enjoyed working with his hands and liked making old things new. He had the amazing ability to flip houses that were surely doomed to be demolished. He was known to be thrifty and would rebuild from the foundation up, often using recycled materials wherever he could find them. Bill will be best remembered much like the tools and materials he used in life. Honest and true as his level, strong and durable as his brick, stone and mortar. And as a person of lasting quality and perfection, just as every project he had ever built. Bill is survived by his uncle, Jerry L. Payne of Cumberland, VA, his aunt, Jenny L. (Payne) Massengill of Jonesborough TN, his sister, Donyll (Payne) Dameron, his nephew, Jonathan B. Dameron of Charlottesville, VA and his niece, Michelle (Payne) Jordan of Palmyra, VA. There will be a celebration of Bill's life announced at a later date. The family would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care. To honor Bill's memory donations may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Ste. 300, Charlottesville VA 22911 or to a charity of your choice.
