

He was born on September 8, 1936, in Berwyn, IL, the son of William A. and Mary T. (Madigan) Osterman. He graduated from Saint Philips High School in Chicago in June of 1954. Don married his lifelong sweetheart, Lois Jean Tokay, at Our Lady of Charity Church in Cicero, IL, on August 16, 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William R. Osterman; sister, Mary Jane Farmer; and his "Shining Star", grandson Hayden Thomas Bartle.
Don was a member of the Illinois Army National Guard for over 40 years and was a full time Electronics Technician with the National Guard for over 37 years, retiring in 1993.
He is survived by the "Lights of his Life", his wife of 67 years, Lois; daughters, Jeannine White of Chatham, IL, Donna Osterman of Saint Peters, MO, and Laurel (Thomas) Bartle of Joplin, MO; son, Daniel (Jamie) Osterman of Toledo, IL; seven grandchildren, Abigail White, McKenzie White, Nick Osterman, Conor Osterman, Erin Osterman, Ivan "Ike" Houck, and Vincent Theodore Osterman; one great-grandson, Chance Matheis; and two great-granddaughters, Elyse Rayna Osterman and Aria Mae Osterman.
Don was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker parish in Chatham since 1974.
Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial: Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham, until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Molloy, celebrant.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home- Chatham, 8855 State Rte. 4, Chatham.
