Ernest Neathery

He was born in Springfield on December 13, 1936, the son of Ernest, Sr. and Hazel McFarland Neathery. Ernest married Donna Cass on August 29, 1959, in Springfield.

Ernie graduated from Springfield High School, and he soon began working for CILCO (now Ameren) where he eventually became Crew Leader in charge of the Gas Storage Field near Lincoln, IL. He worked for CILCO for 38 years. His family made their home in Chatham, but after retirement Ernie and Donna moved to their farm south of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Neathery; and sister, Dolores Klaus.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna Neathery of Palmyra; daughter, Leigh Ann Homeier of Palmyra; son, Eric Neathery of Girard; grandchildren, Tiffany Kent of Springfield, Tessa (Mitchell) Hudson of Elkhart, and Tyler Neathery of Girard; and great grandchildren, Kaeley, Garrett, and Logan Kent, Haizel Neathery, and Caleb Hudson.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
