Russ was born on October 2, 1943, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Morris Sr. and Kathryn Phillips Gotschall. He married Mary Epperly on April 29, 1967, in Franklin, IL.
Russ proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He earned his bachelor’s degree and was employed with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation until his retirement. Russ enjoyed fixing anything that he could and working outdoors in the yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Morris Jr., Harlin, and Stephen Gotschall.
Russ is survived by his wife, Mary Gotschall of Chatham; brother, Phillip (Lynn) Gotschall of South Jacksonville, IL; and sister-in-law, Marcella Gotschall.
Private family burial will be held at Chatham Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
