Linda Elaine Butler

Linda was born on July 24, 1939, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Alberta (Elkin) Buckman. She married Don E. Butler on August 31, 1957, in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2021.

Linda graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield, IL. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda’s faith and family were a very important part of her life. She loved shopping, gardening, and was an avid bowler. Linda was part of the bowling league in Chatham, IL, and bowled in the same location that Butler Funeral Home is located now. She was a gentle soul, unconditionally loving, and selfless person who was always there for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Judy Buckman; and sister, Carol Sarsha.

She is survived by her brother, Steve (Kathy) Buckman; daughter, Cathy (Bill) Mann, of Leesburg, VA; son, Gregg (Sandy) Butler, of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Damon (Bethany) Butler, Alexander (fiancé, Sarah) Mann, Cameron Butler, and William “Liam” Mann; great-grandchildren, Piper, Ella, Miles, and Landon Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rte. 4, Chatham, until the time of the ceremony at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
