She was born on November 13, 1948, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Mervin J. and Marjorie L. (Hunter) Swigert. Linda married Lawrence “Larry” A. Bumgarner on October 14, 1994, in Rochester.
Linda graduated from Glenwood High School in 1969. She went on to work as a secretary for the IL Department of Transportation, retiring in 2011 after 30 years of service. Linda was a member of the Elks Club, and also attended Chatham Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing golf, vacationing in the winter, and was passionate about her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Bumgarner of Rochester; son, Troy (Amanda) Tamminga of Rochester; sister, Beverly Jenkins of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Carter and Tyler Tamminga, and Sawyer and AJ Henson; step-daughter, Amanda (TJ) Henson of Chatham; and step-son, Matthew Bumgarner.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Service: Family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, followed by the Service at 11:00 a.m.
