Mona was born April 28, 1966, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Moustapha “Steve” Hashem and Mablean Crist Mounkara.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Springfield. Mona loved food, family, fun, and her faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mona is survived by her siblings, Omar E. Mounkara of Chatham and Leila (Charles Jr.) Lambert of Springfield and nephew, Charles Lambert, III.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will host a Memorial Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3601 Buckeye Dr., Springfield, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics
