

Nancy was born in September of 1949 in Morris, MN, the daughter of LuVerne and Darlene Wente. After graduating high school, she attended Brainerd Nursing School, where she earned her L.P.N. degree, and began her nursing career at the age of 19. Later that same year, in 1968, she married her husband, Ronald (Ron) in Minnesota, and they made their first home in the Minneapolis area. Nancy began her career at a nursing home in St. Louis Park, MN. In 1970, when Ron’s job transferred them to Springfield, IL, she continued her work at a nursing home in Auburn, IL, and later joined Dr. Mark Mullendore’s practice, where she cared for patients for 34 years before retiring in 2014 from Physicians Group Associates.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ron; three children, Jodi Slaton of Chatham, Chad (Stacey) Hanson of Buffalo Grove, and Lacy (Manuel) Davis of Springfield; five grandchildren, Nathaniel and Megan Slaton, Hannah and Gabrielle Hanson, and Ashton Davis; one aunt, Gladys Helberg of Minnesota; several cousins, nephews, and nieces; and her sister, LaVonne of Nevada.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love and presence will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, followed by the Funeral at 1:00 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in Nancy’s honor.
