Pat was born on May 4, 1953, in Omaha, NE, the son of James W. and Mary Eileen (Mailand) Bearss. Patrick married Candice M. Candioto on January 13, 1979, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham.
Pat graduated from Griffin High School in 1971, and earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, KS. After college, he was signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. Pat went on to work as a corporate investment advisor for several financial institutions. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church for 47 years, and was also a member of the TRN Club and the Knights of Columbus in Chatham.
Pat loved life and had a passion for making connections as a mentor, a friend, and with family members. He possessed a talent for totally focusing on the person with whom he was conversing. Pat’s grandchildren were the light of his life. His favorite pastimes were golfing, gardening, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, of which he was proud season ticket holder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Bearss; and brother-in-law, Thomas Anderson.
Pat is survived by his wife, Candice Bearss; daughter, Michele (Shane) Bearss; son, Nick (Amber) Bearss; grandchildren, Xander, Noah, Jaelynn, Abygail, and Dominic; siblings, Judith Anderson, Pamela (Bill) Montgomery, and Sr. Bridget Bearss RSCJ; sister-in-law, Karen; and several nieces and nephews.
Prayer Service and Visitation: Prayer Service will begin at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham. Visitation will follow from 3:00 – 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph M. Molloy officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Pat may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation at http://t2t.org, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, following ceremonies.
Burial will be held at a later date.
