Robert H. Schweikle

He was born on July 3, 1949, to Robert W. and Florence in Evanston, Illinois.

Bob lived life dedicated to his work in a management and financial role for small corporations and family businesses. Before serving as a business professor at Blackburn College in Carlinville, his business career was in the Chicago suburbs and included international travel. Bob then lived in Champaign. Later, he discovered how much he enjoyed teaching business subjects such as accounting, human resources management, and more to young adults and non-traditional students in the higher education setting. He retired from Blackburn in 2017. He was proud of his contribution to the careers of future accountants and office professionals.

He graduated from both the University of Illinois in 1971 and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School in 1988. Outside of work, Bob is best known for his love of Illini sports, the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Cubs, and taking cross country Amtrak train trips. Years ago, he loved to host extended family, neighbors and friends at in person Big Ten games in Champaign. If your home displayed an orange flag with a blue “I” or you said “Oskee Wow Wow”, Bob considered you a friend.

Bob will be deeply missed and remembered by his children, Meredith Hinchee (Jay) of Glasford and Steven Schweikle of Virden. They survive as well as two grandchildren, several cousins, friends, and bridge partners.

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home- Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham.
