Steven Fritz

He was born on March 17, 1961, in Springfield, the son of Edgar and Carolyn (Lukesch) Fritz. Steven married Sally Heffernan on May 18, 1992, in Limerick, Ireland.

Steven graduated from Southeast High School in 1979 and went on to earn his doctorate degree from Adler School of Professional Psychology. He was employed at Killian and Associates and worked as a Consulting Psychologist at Packard Mental Health Center, Disability Determination Services, and the Federal Public Defender’s Office. Steven was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed exercising at Fit Club, traveling, attending concerts, riding his bike, going to the theatre, and hiking. Steven was hardworking, compassionate, silly (known as the dad joke king by his kids), and selfless. His family was very important to him, especially his wife, children, mom, sister, and dear cousin, John.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Fritz, Jr.; grandparents, Edgar and Mary Fritz, and Fred and Virginia Lukesch; and in-laws, Doug and Louise Heffernan.

Steven is survived by his wife, Sally Fritz; children, Colin and Carys Fritz; mother, Carolyn Fritz; sister, Sandra Fritz; beloved dog, Louise; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Cremation was provided prior to services.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hope Presbyterian Church, 2211 Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL, with Pastor Chuck Goodman officiating.
