Thomas A. Baker

He was born in Waggoner on July 16, 1932, the son of Frank and Marion (Fleming) Baker. Thomas married Patricia Garst at Church of the Bretheren in Girard, Illinois on March 4, 1956.

Thomas graduated from Waggoner High School in 1950. He later proudly served in the U.S. Army in 1952. Thomas worked as a storekeeper for the State of Illinois. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, specialized cars, singing at church, and was an avid Cardinals fan. Thomas was a member of FFA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Borden and Martha West; brothers, Robert Baker and Hobart Wood; and daughter, Karen Baker.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Mike Baker; daughters, Kristine (James) Friesen and Patricia (Jay) Mitchell; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) and Chad (Christina) Friesen; and great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Samuel, Jade, Piper, and Charli Friesen.

The family will host a Memorial Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 310 W. Madison St., Girard, with Reverend Victor Angulo officiating.
