

Born on January 13, 1951, in Springfield, Tom was the son of Lester Wayne and Helen (Campbell) Reavis. On June 23, 1973, he married the love of his life, Margaret Leigh Syson, and they shared more than 50 years together before her passing on October 29, 2024.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Tom honorably served in the U.S. Army. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Chatham and a skilled welder who took great pride in his craftsmanship. Tom found joy in life’s simple pleasures—camping with his family, tackling home improvement projects, and spending time outdoors. His strong work ethic, kind spirit, warm sense of humor, and ability to build and create with his hands were qualities that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his sons, Matthew (Kerry) Reavis and Drew (fiancée Tricia) Reavis; his beloved grandchildren, Zachary and Paige Reavis; his brother, Steve (Helen) Reavis; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and his siblings, Lester Wayne Reavis, Jr., Dale Reavis, Gary Reavis, Connie Smith, and Bonnie Daykin.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom’s life at a visitation on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Dinges officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, honoring Tom’s dedication to his fellow servicemen and women.
