

He was born on November 1, 1944, in Coldwater, MI, the son of Arlo and Alice (Kaufmann) Musser. Tom married his college sweetheart, Marianne Caspary, on April 27, 1968, in Atlanta, GA. She preceded him in death, on October 8, 2008.
Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Western Michigan University. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his career as a director in the marketing industry. After retirement, Tom got restless and took a job at Kohl’s, where he enjoyed bantering with co-workers and customers. He was known by all as “Tom from Kohl’s”. Tom was a member of the Springfield community since 2009. A history buff, he especially enjoyed visiting historical sites, and was an avid reader on the subject. Other hobbies include cars, plants, and being a grandfather. Tom was well known as both humorous and charming.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his sons, Scott Musser of Chatham and Greg Musser of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Mariah and Jameson Musser; siblings, Tim (Kathy) Musser of Quincy, MI and Julie (Bill) Shoop of Coldwater, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Army Department of Defense.
