
Charlie Cormier of Chatham died December 25 after a courageous 6 year battle with cancer.
He was born May 12, 1937 in Quincy, MA.
He leaves his beloved wife Joanie of 52 years, his loving daughter Candy and his son Chucky. He also leaves his treasured grandchildren Kyle, Krissy, Kelly, and Katie. Also special in his heart were his brother-in-law Wally, sister-in-law Melodye Bicknell and their children Jeremy and Jackie.
He loved visits from his special brothers Bobby and Russell. He also had a brother Ricky, sister Helen, brother-in-law Wayne and his wife Patsy Bicknell.
Charlie was an avid hunter with his family, loved fishing with Cousin Joe and live his games of cribbage.
He was known as " Mr. Fix-it ", to everyone. He was a Navy Veteran on a destroyer escort during the Bay of Pigs Conflict. He was given an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1963.
He was a lieutenant on the Chatham Fire Department and was one of Chatham's first E.M.T.'s. He was active in both the Chatham Fire and Police Associations, as well as a member of the Chatham Lions Club.
He spent his last years proudly driving the Chatham Bar's Inn trolley and was known as "Charlie the Trolley Driver."
His family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Kelly Swanson of Cape Cod Hospital, and the Chatham Fire and Police Association. In lieu of flowes, donations can be made to the Chatham Fire Association.
He will be truly missed by all.
Calling hours and funeral service will be held at the Nickerson Funeral Home 87 Crowell Rd., Chatham on Friday, Dec. 30 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with a prayer service from 1:30 to 2pm followed by burial at the Seaside Cemetery, Crowell Rd., Chatham MA.
