

CHATHAM - Diane was born at Cape Cod Hospital in 1939 to the late Howard and Marion Mock Matteson. She was a Chatham Native and graduated Chatham High School valedictorian of her class. She was invited to join the Mensa society at 18 and attended Fanny Farmer's Cooking school in Boston. Diane had an associate’s degree in accounting from Cape Cod Community College. She was an avid reader, mah jong and card player. She had master bridge points and taught bridge locally, in California, and on cruise ships. She was an avid traveler from the time she could walk, including backpacking around Europe on her 60th birthday. Diane loved quilting, taught classes and was a member of the BayBerry Quilters Guild of Cape Cod. She was very social and had many friends. She loved a good Nor Easter, the nautical and fishing communities of Chatham. She was a member of the Nickerson Family Association. She loved watching the Boston Bruins with her son. She loved birds and flowers. Diane married Harold Nickerson in 1961 and Edward LeBlanc in 1980. She was the sister of the late Douglas Matteson. Diane is survived by her sister, Kathleen Nowak of Fl; daughter Valerie Loveland of Chatham; son Dana Nickerson of Chatham; grandson Matteson Loveland, and several nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Memorial services at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA on June 6, 2011 from 4-7 pm. Light refreshments to follow at the VFW on George Ryder Road Chatham.
