Elizabeth May Hanafee

Liz was born in Highland Park, Michigan on April 9, 1936 to loving parents Fred and Georgina (McNab)

Gordon. An only child, she was the center of her parents’ world.

Liz worked at General Motors for 15 years, where she met her husband Michael Hanafee, the love of

her life. They married in 1994, retired from GM and moved from Warren, Michigan to Chatham,

Massachusetts. Cape Cod became their home and community for the past 26 years.

Liz was dedicated to creating a warm welcoming home and a happy place for friends and family to visit.

Together with Mike’s passion for gardening, Liz researched and transitioned to plant based living using

the bounty from the garden. In fact, the change was applied to what is used in a household and on our

bodies. For her, organics were extremely important.

Liz was a kind hearted and sweet person who always viewed the positives in individuals. Her smiles

and laughter will be missed.

She leaves behind her husband, Michael.

There will be a graveside service for Liz on March 18,11:00 AM at Peoples Cemetery which is

located at the corner of Stepping Stones and Crowell, Plot 360.

The service will be officiated by Deacon Dick Stenberg and Pastor Mike Hanafee.
