A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by five children; Paul (Denise) of Harwich, Patricia (Robert) Stadolnik of Norfolk, Stephen (Lesley) of Westford, Peter (Maureen) of Westborough and Julianne Britt of West Newton and North Truro. She is survived by eleven grandchildren and their spouses; Kathryn (Chris), David (Helen), Peter, Mark (Kristen), Joseph (Cristi), Laura (Christopher), Jessica, Kristen, Jillian, Stephanie (Ryan) and Alexander (Tessa), and three great-grandchildren Aurora, John Robert and Pace. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Providence, R.I., Vera was a graduate of Hope High School and the Rhode Island Hospital School. She worked as a lab tech at Lawrence Memorial Hospital until she and her husband settled in Bedford, MA. While a resident of Bedford for over 30 years, Vera actively volunteered, serving at Emerson Hospital, the Bedford Public Schools, Saint Michael Parish and countless community initiatives.
As frequent vacationers to Cape Cod, Vera and Pat moved to Chatham in 1989. She was a daily communicant and eucharistic minister at Holy Redeemer Church, a member of the Monomoy Yacht Club and the Chatham Garden Club, and a volunteer at Cape Cod Hospital.
Vera had many interests as a gourmet cook and cake decorator, water colorist, gardener and seamstress. Warm and welcoming, Vera loved entertaining friends and family who delighted in an invitation to her table. Vera enjoyed walking the seashore trails, boating, golfing, attending Cape Cod Symphony concerts and theatre. She and Pat travelled often to destinations near and far, and enjoyed many excursions throughout the world.
Close friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Friday, October 8, at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Avenue, Chatham, MA. Private interment to be at a later date.
