Chatham – George T. Jones, 83, died Monday, May 7th, 2018. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Marginot) Jones, the son of the late Genevieve Jones and George T. Jones Jr and the brother of Richard J. Jones of PA. George graduated from Matigon High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1957. He served his country from 1957 to 1959. He met the love of his life in 1964 and they lived happily in Cohasset, MA until moving to Chatham, MA in 2001. George became a territory sales manager for Crosby Laughlin which later became The Crosby Group. The demands of travel and time spent away from his young sons and wife led him to become an entrepreneur. In 1971 he left Crosby to found and grow his own company, Eastern Sling & Supply, which still operates successfully today, using many of the processes and procedures which he put in place years ago. He enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, astronomy and the beauty of Hardings Beach. George is survived by three sons and their wives: George Thomas and wife Denise of Duxbury, MA; Theodore and wife Shirley of Lebanon, NH; and Dennis and wife Karen of Harwich, MA. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Rachel, Danielle, Samantha, Rebecca, Alex, Maya, and Dylan. A visitation will be held from 3PM to 6PM on Sunday, May 13th at Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 14th at Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham. Aunt Nancy, Tom, Ted, and Dennis, I'm sending so much love to you all and the children and miss you and wish I were with you.

Uncle George, I'll always remember your passion for dogs and the ocean and music (the first time I heard the full Handel's Messiah it was at a beautiful performance you invited us to, and I remember the albums you would have playing when we visited at holidays), and how once when you took me out on your boat you put a fish back in the water after I cried and asked you to set it free. Thank you for reading my film stories. I love you.

To George's family......I have fond memories of George going back to the 70's when he worked for CROSBY and called on us at our Worcester facility. He was always kind and helpful trying to help us grow our business. He always had a smile to brighten the day.I had spoken to him several times over the years, but sadly never really saw him in person since the early days. Our heartfelt condolences go out to George's family ...........from Richard, Henry and Ed St Pierre @ St Pierre Chain and Wire Rope Company
