Gordon William Howe

August 5, 1931January 8, 2019

Gordon William Howe born in Dalton, MA, August 5th 1931, passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughter’s January 8, 2019 on Cape Cod.

Gordon is a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Gordon is a graduate of Northeastern University and had a life long professional career at Raytheon Company as a Contracts Director until his retirement.

Gordon loved Cape Cod and all things ocean ~ sailing, swimming, fishing and just having his feet in the sand. He was a champion of social justice and a steward of the environment He was an active member of the Methodist Church in Chatham including serving as a Trustee. Gordon enjoyed cheering on the New England sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox and the Chatham A’s.

Gordon is the beloved husband of Joan Kendall loving father of Celeste Howe and Sharen Howe O’Connell and her husband Jeffrey Beatty loving brother of Nancy Cousins stepfather to Timothy Kendall and Todd Kendall and his wife Bonita Kendall and special grandfather to Rachel Lynn, Megan O’Connell, Sawyer Lynn, Jennifer and Meghan Beatty and Drew, Hayden and Ariana Kendall many wonderful nieces and nephews and survived by his former wife Myrna Farrell Howe.

Gordon William Howe’s Memorial Service is being held on January 12, 2019 at the United Methodist Church 16 Cross Street, Chatham, MA 02633 at 3:00pm with reception to be held immediately following the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of Chatham or to the Ocean Conservancy at 1300 Nineteenth Street, NW 8th Floor, Washington DC 20036.

Joan, and family,
I'm sorry to learn of Gordie's passing. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with him when the opportunity arose. As so often happens, the years, and unfortunately lifetimes, fly by leaving only memories. May you hold close the memories of a life well lived! God speed Gordie! Until we meet again.
