Loved family, friends and Cape Cod
Jan and Bill are together again. They were married for 63 years and were seldom separated. Bill left us in July and now Jan has joined him as the victim of an automobile accident.
Jan was born, Janet Tabor Skinner on March 19, 1925 in Attleboro, MA. She was the oldest of two children of Dorothy (Stafford) and Edward Skinner. She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1942 and worked as a teller for the First National Bank in Attleboro for several years. She and Bill were married in her home church, The Second Congregational Church, in Attleboro, in 1947. They lived in Mansfield on Spring St. where their oldest child was born and then moved to Attleboro where Bill Jr. was born in 1960. Jan worked at the Pylon Company in Attleboro as a secretary and then at Deltran Co. for her brother Donald Skinner. She taught Sunday School for a time at the Second Congregational Church and was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club in Attleboro. She also enjoyed “Club” once a month with several women who were good friends for many years. After that she worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Richardson School in Attleboro. She also returned to the banking arena as a teller for a time until she and Bill moved to Chatham, MA. in 1987. Jan worked for the Chatham School Department as a secretary in the Special Education Department. When she left the School Department she began to work for the Candy Manor in Chatham. She has many caring friends at the Candy Manor who became a second family for her. Jan loved to sew, knit , paint, work in the yard and gardens, and read.
Jan made many, many friends during her time on Cape Cod. Some have left us and are now a part of Jan’s eternal life but many are still here to remember and honor her.
