Jean L. Winston

Jean L. Winston, 93, long time resident at the Oaks of Orleans and the Victorian of N. Chatham, passed away peacefully on 2/28/17 after a brief illness. Born in Boston in 1923, the third of four children to I.M. & Louise Kaplan. Best friend to her identical twin sister, Thelma. She received a teaching degree from Boston University in 1944 and taught elementary school both before and after raising her family.

Married to Robert for 66 yrs, before his passing in 2012, she leaves a son Dana (her late daughter in law Catherine) of Walpole, MA, and daughter Ali and son in law Harry of Sheffield, MA. Loving grandmother to Amy, Andrew, Edward and Sergio Winston.

Jean was a proud life long learner, devoted to current events, politics, mastering the daily NY Times crossword puzzle and taking on all comers for a Scrabble board challenge. She was a proficient needle crafter and lover of classical music.

The family plans a private memorial service and graveside burial in late spring.
