John Ericson

CHATHAM - John Ericson, of Chatham, died on December 13, 2015 from complications from a stroke a week earlier on Sunday, December 6 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Born on July 24, 1955 in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of Robert and Jacqueline (Remillard) Ericson of Harwich, MA. He graduated from Worcester State University with a BA and received his JD from New England School of Law. John was raised in Chatham and graduated from Chatham High School; John then returned to Chatham to practice law in 1981, later forming Ericson & LaMotte, Attorneys in 1996. John was a gifted athlete and an avid Boston sports teams fan. He was a member of the Chatham Beach & Tennis Club.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by his partner, Deborah P. LaMotte of Chatham, his daughter, Melissa (Ericson) Bohannon and her husband Justin of Chatham, daughter Abigail Ericson and her partner Michael Horton of Florence, MA. He is also survived by his brother Robert H. Ericson, Jr. and his wife Julie of Yarmouth, MA, sister Melanie Ericson of Norwich, CT and his brother Kevin Ericson and his wife Kate of Franklin, CT., and their three children Kayley, Sarah and Paul Ericson. Also surviving John are his partner’s children Connie and Jake LaMotte.

Attorney, athlete, runner, Disney lover, hiker, he had a brilliant, quick, and witty mind. A kinder, more generous man you’d never find!

We invite you to attend a celebration of his life on Monday December 21, 2015 at the Riverway Lobster House in South Yarmouth, MA from 3-7pm. We hope you can stay for the duration for conversation, food, remembrances, and fellowship to honor John.
