March 5, 1948 – October 12, 2019
Lawrence Lee, 71, of Chatham Massachusetts, succumbed to cancer surrounded by his family on October 13, 2019.
"Larry" is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of 46 years, daughters Alison Hester and Katherine Davis, sons David Lee and Jonathan Lee, grandchildren Madeline and Emma Davis and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Larry was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend.
Larry loved the water. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he and Kathy moved to Chatham and enjoyed many years together raising their family. He worked as an oil burner technician and a shell fisherman for decades. Larry was known to have a great sense of humor. He could also fix most anything. Larry loved to sail, enjoyed the water and outdoors, and enjoyed time working with his hands.
A special thank you to the people at Tufts Medical for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Nickerson Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Visitation will be from 3-5 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home (Chatham) on October 22. Larry will be laid to rest at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne with his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Cape Cod Shelter, 981 Main St. (Route 6A), East Brewster, MA 02631. God’s speed, Larry. I always wondered what became of you, and it looks like you had a good life. Lots of smiles in the pictures of you and your family. I’m happy for you. Memories of time shared under the Concord road bridge, the “snake pit” and working for Santo Anza. We were as characters in Steven King’s story “Stand by Me”, in my mind. I still remember watching “Thunder Road”, starring Robert Mitchum, at your house near Ogilvie’s. As I say, God’s speed, my friend.
