
Muriel Alberti Horne 89, of Chatham, Massachusetts passed away Monday evening, August 16th. She was preceeded in death by her dear husband John Baxter Horne, Sr. and sadly her youngest son Roger William Horne, both of Chatham. She is survived by her oldest son John Baxter Horne, Jr. and his partner Robert P. Kent, both of Lake Worth, Florida as well as her daughter-in-law, Suzanne F. Horne of Chatham and four grandchildren; William and wife, Megan, Horne of South Boston, MA, Jacqueline Horne of Charlotte, N.C., Gregory Horne of South Boston, MA, and Alexandra Horne of Lake Worth, Florida. Also surviving is her brother O. William Alberti, Sr. of Warminster, PA. and many nieces and nephews.
Muriel was born to Oscar and Emily Alberti in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and attended local schools. She later worked for The Bove School in Boston before meeting and marrying her husband of fourty-six years, John B. Horne, in 1950. They worked together with John's parents and brothers and sister building a cottage colony below Chatham Lighthouse, where many residents of the town visited and enjoyed summers. She was a hard-working wife and mother and will be loved and missed by her family and friends. She was an early board member of Nauset Workshop, a member of The Chatham Beach and Tennis Club and worked on many committees for the First Congregational Church of Chatham.
A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church, Main Street, Chatham on Saturday August 28th at 11:00 AM.
