Myron F. Burdick

Accountant, Systems Analyst, Consultant

Myron Frederick Burdick, 96, of S. Chatham, passed away on February 1, 2013. He was born in Pawcatuck, CT on October 25, 1916. A direct descendent of Robert Burdick, one of the founders of the settlement of Westerly RI in 1658.

Husband of the of the late Marguerite (Murphey) Burdick for over 60 years who died on July 20, 1999.

He was member of the sons of the American Revolution, Scoutmaster Troop 8, Westerly, RI. Myron also graduated from New London Business College and attended Bently College and Northeastern University.

He was elected auditor for the Pawcatuck Fire District in 1940. During WWII he was assistant plant manager at Sylvania Electronics, He was also an advocate for fixed and variable expense accounting. Treasurer at SDM Corp, and controller at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp electronics division.

Myron was a charter member of the National Association of Accountants, North Shore and Rt 128 Chapters, a member of the Financial Executives Institute, founding treasurer of the BLH Management Club, Licensed Public Accountant, an honorary auditor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was also a Notary Public for over 60 years.

He was an usher and auditor for St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, an original member of the Chatham Golf Advisory Committee, co-sponsor of the Myron-Byron Golf Tournament for 60+ Senior Men’s Golf Group at Chatham Seaside Links. He also enjoyed golf with two holes-in-one to his credit.

Myron is survived by his daughters Linda Sue Strauss of Falmouth and Heather Margaret Smith of Chatham. He also leaves three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four nieces.

A memorial service will be held at St Christopher’s Church, Chatham, MA on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00pm. Burial will be private.
