Robert W. Redding

November 6, 1943October 7, 2018

Robert “Bob” Redding, 74, passed away on the afternoon of October 7th peacefully in the home that he built to commemorate his love for his wife of 52 years, Linda. Born on November 6, 1943, Bob grew up in Uxbridge MA in a busy household where he was surrounded by friends and family who helped him to create childhood memories that he would share and entertain others with throughout his life regarding his adventures and near misses with death. He was a self-driven man who chose his life’s path as a professor of Mathematics at Worcester State University. He often thought of becoming a doctor or veterinarian but knew with a growing family that it may not be best for the stability of those he loved. Bob pursued many passions including woodworking, running, photography, ukulele, piano, Chinese cooking, Morse code and HAM radio communications, model trains, and most recently acting. He started late in his career of acting in local theater and film productions where he enjoyed his role as the “old salt” in the film Golden Boys, and theater productions of Our Town, Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde, The Girl From Quanset, and Three Viewings. He also gave back to those in his community as he supported the Chatham Turkey Trot and assisted local Boy Scouts in achieving their Eagle Scout Badge. Although he was happiest in the quiet surroundings of his home in Chatham, he could be enticed to “go over the bridge” in order to travel with his family to Walt Disney World where he rode each daring ride with a wide smile and a belly laugh. Bob was loved by and loved his grandchildren Jack and Henry Watson, and Elizabeth and Bella Redding , who affectionately renamed him Beep. He will be missed greatly by his wife Linda, his son Scott Redding and wife Heather, and his daughter Jennifer and husband Jonathan Watson. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to VNA of Cape Cod Hospice at 434 Route 134, Building D, South Dennis, MA 02660. A service of remembrance will take place on November 10, 2018 at 11AM at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House, 819 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633.

Whenever I think of Bob, I think of that kind yet mischievous ready smile of his, his positive personality and that camera of his! Watching his glee at taking pictures was always a joy to behold! Easy to see why Bob and Linda had such positive synergy and love which inspired their children! His memory lives on! Love, Brenda
