Sharon D. Miller

Sharon D. Miller, 68, loving mother, grandmother and sister, died on May 28, 2016 in Brewster, MA.

Sharon was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on March 12, 1948, the first daughter to John “Harry” Dolbear and Doris (Carlsen) Dolbear. She grew up in Cranford NJ and summered in Ocean Grove, NJ. She graduated from Bridgewater College in 1970 and while raising her 4 children, devoted her career to early childhood education. She spent over 15 years as a preschool teacher at Ledyard Center Nursery School in Ledyard, CT. After moving to Florida, Sharon spent many years as the Assistant Director of the University of North Florida Child Development Research Center in Jacksonville, FL, before retiring in 2014. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, going to the beach, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was the wife of 42 year to the late J. Dale Miller, deceased in 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Amy Silvester (RJ) of Chatham, MA; Carrie Miller (Jamie) of Pikes Road, AL; Bethany Paul (Jason) of Chatham, MA; her son, Christopher Miller (Erin) of Charlton, MA; her sister, Joan Dolbear of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and her 5 grandchildren, Madeline and Emily Silvester, William Todhunter, Gus Paul and Delaney Miller.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Ledyard Congregational Church in Ledyard, CT . In lieu of flowers, the family has expressed donations be made in memory of Sharon to the Alzheimer’s Association at www. alz.org.
