Steven was born to Mae and Joseph Goldman in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1942, where he lived until he attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. After graduating with a marketing degree in 1965, he joined the National Guard before beginning a career in advertising and media sales. While living in New York City, he met and married his loving wife Sandra, and they soon started a family in Chicago. In 1981 he joined Paramount Pictures, where he worked as a television executive for 23 years. This job eventually brought him and his family to Los Angeles, which would remain their home until his retirement in 2003. He and his wife Sandra then relocated to Chatham, where they owned and operated the Cyrus Kent House Inn for five years before retiring full-time to travel extensively and spend winters in Florida. Steven was an avid golfer, gardener, and art enthusiast, who took up oil painting in his late 60s. He also served on several boards, including Emerson College, Aerva Software, Chatham Creative Arts Center, and The Orpheum Theater. Most of all, he loved spending time with his two grandsons.
Steven is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra, daughter Jessica, son Evan, daughter Victoria O’Connor and husband Neal, and grandchildren Emmet and Dillon O’Connor. He is also survived by his brother Stuart Goldman (Harriet) of Yardley, PA, his sister Lois Jungers (Bill) of St. Louis, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held at a later date. In his memory, please consider making a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org). To leave notes of comfort visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
