Bettye Kelly Holden

Bettye was the daughter of Otha Christine Robinson and Roosevelt Kelly. Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, strength, generosity, faith, humor, her willingness to always help others and her unwavering dedication to her family.

Bettye devoted many years working at Friendship Haven as a Caregiver and she loved driving all over for Norfolk Railroad. She especially enjoyed sitting out in the sun, crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family; her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around her.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Otha Christine Robinson and Roosevelt Kelly; siblings, Lewis (Edna Pearl) Kelly, Levirgel Kelly, Leon Kelly, Charles (Shelia) Elliott, Calvin (Janie B) Kelly, Edna (Sylvester) Caslin, Ernestine (George W.) Pickett and Mamie L. (Willie D) Anderson.

She is survived by her children, Angela R. Brown, Lucy (Mark) Hunt, Herbert Waugh, Willie Waugh Jr.; grandchildren, Nikishia Burson, Johnetta Goode, Cadarius Brown, Angel Waugh, Shunique Sanders, and CJ Cruz; great Grandchildren, Tymarius Sharpley, Jaquan Suttles, Alexus Taylor, Eniyia Martin, and Stephen Elston Jr.; siblings, Gloria (Napoleon) Gaither, Bishop Ernest Howard and Bertha (James) Humphrey; her extended family, Timothy, Dominique, Zyon, Zuriah Hammonds, Brittany and Olivia Williams; special granddaughter, Camelia “Niecy” Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.

Her body will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404.

A Graveside Service will immediately follow at 12:30 pm at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2116 Shepherd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The Repass will be at Advantage Funeral Home after the Graveside Service.
