Brenda Ladell Buckner

Brenda Buckner, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend gained her heavenly wings on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on June 16, 1958, in Chattanooga, TN, she lived a life centered around faith, family and love.

She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Miss. Brenda Buckner was preceded in death by her father, George Buckner, Jr; mother, Bertha Buckner; sister, Tonetta Buckner; brother, Ivan Buckner; niece, Miracle Buckner McDowell; and her grandparents, George (Joanna) Buckner, Sr., and Willie (Georgia) Dillard.

Miss Buckner is survived by her son, Phillip (Melinda) Buckner of Chattanooga, TN; daughters, Tonetta Watson of Rossville, GA and Elizabeth Watson of Chattanooga, TN; Brenda had 15 grandchildren, DeVonte Evans, Omunique and Zaniyah Buckner, Azariah Foster, LaShae, Crystal and Lee Spencer, Areyonnia Watson, Shakur Foster, Heaven, Mykenzie, Nala, Leverage and Anissa Watson and Brandneisha Foster; 6 bonus great grandchildren; Godson, David Walker; sisters, Anna Butler, Gwendolyn McDowell and Audrey Buckner; brother, George (Love) Buckner, III; special friends, Nathaniel Watson, Herman Willis and Kevin Belue; nieces, Tiffany, J’Anna and Traviah; nephews, Ivan 'IV' (Missy) Buckner, Samuel (Vickey), Ivan Percy, Jikaylen Buckner, Napoleon 'Jr' (Michele) Butler, Anthony Buckner, James (Mac, Jr) McDowell and Trey Butler; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A proud fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, she would be found cheering on her beloved team every football season.

She loved to attend church at New Bethel FBH. More than anything she treasured time spent with her family; family gatherings, holidays, celebrations and simple everyday moments were the greatest joys of her life.

The Buckner family would like to express their appreciation to all who have offered their love, prayers and support during this time.

A Visitation for Brenda will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.

A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Captain Chaplain Napoleon Butler officiating and Reverend Sherine Tillman.
