Carlos Wendell Peters, 88 passed away on Sunday May 6, 2018. He was a native of Ringgold, GA. He attended schools in Ringgold and was a member of the Tennessee National Guard in Dalton, GA. He also attended Chattanooga State College.
He was the last living child of Horace Jefferson Peters and Nora Clemons. He was retired from Combustion Engineering after 35 years of service.
He was a long time member of Ridgedale Baptist Church where he was a deacon and an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Genesis Sunday School Class.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Ina Wooden, Burma Powell, and Lillian Burt, brothers, Clarence, Virgil, Donald, David, and Dennis Jefferson Peters.
Left behind to cherish Carlos’ memory are his wife, Sally Elizabeth Garner Peters, children, Jenny Lynn Peters (Robert) Cocanougher, Jacksonville, FL., Nancy Carlene Peters (Frank) Cicchetto, Reston, VA., Leslie Ray (Beth) Peters, Houston, TX., grandsons, Hunter Wells Cocanougher, Alex David Cicchetto, and Erik Jacobsen Peters, nieces, Norma Derry and Muriel Wooden, nephews, Jeff Peters and Hugh Wooden and several cousins.
A Celebration of Carlos’ Life will be held in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday May 8, 2018. He will be laid to rest in the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, Ga., with Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Carlos’ memory to the Ridgedale Baptist Church.
