Carrol Monroe Merriwether

Carrol Monroe Merriwether, aged 74, peacefully entered into his eternal home of rest on Friday, February 20, 2026. He was born to the late Clara Lee Kimble Means and Linzie Merriwether on May 14, 1951. He was lovingly raised in Chattanooga,TN by Clara and Leon Kimble.

Carrol accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church where he maintained his membership for the balance of hs life.

He graduated from Howard High School where he took up auto mechanics.

Carrol was known as the 'fun' one, always full of life and laughter. He loved creating joyful experiences, spending time with his children and grandchildren, bowling, eating at his favorite restaurant (Golden Corral), enjoying outdoors in his garage with his tools working on whatever he could find to fix, enjoying the day with family and friends there also, and even wrestling matches.

In his later years, Carrol embraced a slower pace of life, he often spent more time at home, cracking jokes, and watching True Grit and other beloved westerns.

His was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Lee Kimble Means; father, Linzie Merriwether; stepfather, Leon Kimble; brothers, LeBron Merriwether, Curtis Merriwether, Lamont Merriwether and Cecil Merriwether; sister, Shadell Merriwether; and son, Carrol Brown.

His family left to treasure his memory include his children, Bertella (Charles) Brown, Vantessa (Darryl) Payne and Lakesha (Roderick) Young; brothers, James L. (Lloyd E.) Merriwether, Willie (Debbie) Kimble and Jerrold Merriwether; sisters, Latricia Wells, Gloria (Eddie) Bell, Barbara Jean Cameron, Geneva (Louis) Craigler, Gwendolyn Russell and Valerie (Alfred) Merriwether-Cobham; along with nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, grand children, great grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

A Lie-in-State will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, located at 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN, 37404

The Funeral service will immediately follow at the same location at 12:00 pm.
