Catherine Susie Brown

Catherine was born in Dalton, GA on June 26, 1932, to the late William and Lola Queen. She was a resident of Decatur, Tennessee.

A steady and faithful presence throughout her life, Catherine met each season with quiet resilience and a generous spirit. Alongside her husband, she owned and operated Bill Brown Trucking Company in Ooltewah for over 50 years, building a life marked by hard work, devotion, and care for others.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 53 years, Bill Brown; and six brothers and sisters and their spouses.

She is survived by her children, Susan Bible, Rick Durand (Susan), Terri Smith (Glenn), and Dewayne Brown (Connie); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren—who all lovingly called her Mimi; and many nieces and nephews.

Her life was rich with simple joys and meaningful connections. She was an avid Braves fan and a Harrah’s Seven-Star member. Most of all, she loved to laugh and to spend time with family, nothing pleased her more than a house full of those she loved. Even in everyday moments, her kind-hearted nature shone through, and she took special joy in staying connected with others through Facebook.

Catherine was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church for many years and was involved in many ministries within the church, reflecting a faith that guided her life and a generosity that reached beyond her own home. She was also a member of Scenic City Women’s Network and the American Business Women’s Association.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
