He was born November 23, 1937 in Ringgold to the late Ernest and Jewell Murray.
Mr. Murray was retired from Combustion/ABB after 37 years of service. He was a 27 year employee of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Charlie was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church where he served as an usher and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his brother E. L. Murray, sister, Jeannette Womac, and son-in-law, Philip Nance.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Charlotte Murray; daughter, Tammy Nance of Ringgold, GA; sons Shayne (Ann) Murray and Keith (Bonnie) Murray of LaFayette, GA; stepsons, Jimmy (Beverly) Tate of Tunnel Hill, GA and Chris (Regina) Tate of Hixson, TN; eleven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; very special friend Tim Woody of Ringgold; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Rev. Chris Tate and Rev. Kyle Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
