Born on September 20, 1934, to Clarence Elmar Speck and Willie Irene Sheid, Ray was a man of quiet strength, deep roots, and generous spirit. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Following his service, he built a respected career as a machinist, known for his precision and dedication.
A devoted genealogist, Ray spent countless hours researching and preserving his family’s history — a legacy that will endure for generations. He had a remarkable green thumb and a deep love for flowers and gardening. Whether tending to his blooms or sharing seeds and cuttings with neighbors, Ray found joy in cultivating life and beauty.
He had a heartfelt love for his community and was always quick to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or share from his garden. To those around him, he wasn’t just a neighbor — he was a friend, mentor, and steady presence.
Ray was a devoted husband to Connie Speck, his beloved wife of 40 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark and daughter, Trina, whose memories he carried tenderly throughout his life.
He is survived by his three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought laughter, pride, and purpose to his days.
Ray will be remembered as a Marine, a craftsman, a family historian, a gardener, and a neighbor whose kindness and character touched many. His legacy is one of service, love, and quiet generosity — and he will be deeply missed.
