

David Allen Jernigan, 63, of East Brainerd, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he has been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life. He was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church and was employed for many years as a Jewelry Sales Rep. David enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and he also loved deep sea fishing.
He was the son of the late Ned and Vieva Jernigan and was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Christopher Jernigan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years Wanda Jernigan; son, Steven (Carrie) Jernigan, Nashville, TN; daughter, Amanda (Edward) Berkowitz, Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Collin Jernigan, Taylor Jernigan, Blane Henning and Sophie Berkowitz; the family dog, Abigail Rose Blanca Jernigan; sister, Sarah (Glenn) Holland, Rossville, GA;brothers, Luther Theodore “Teddy” (Pam) Jernigan, Cartersville, GA, Norman (Judy) Jernigan, Chattanooga and Charles (Carolyn) Jernigan, Fort Payne, AL
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the East Brainerd Chapel with the Rev. Ken Clark officiating. Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to: Hospice of Chattanooga for taking great care of David and his family and to Dr. Gregory Sutton at Tennessee Oncology for his excellent care.
