died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at a local hospital. He was 67.
A second-generation Chattanooga Police officer, Mr.Russell served the public with
pride and integrity for 28 years. David loved his family above all else, and he was known
for his kindhearted and gentle nature.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Dorothy Russell. Survivors
include his wife, Michelle Hawkins Russell; son, Zachary D. Russell; daughter, Caitlin
Dean (Jeremy); grandchildren, Mary J. and Wesley L. Dean; sister, Johanna Sauls
(Bill); and stepchildren, Jamie Jenkins (Chris), grandchildren, Ashlyn, Lilly, and Ayden;
Chris Russell (Misty), grandchildren, Josh, Tony, Victoria, Isaiah, and Nathaniel. Plus
numerous nieces & nephews.
David's family will receive friends at the Hixson United Methodist Friendship House for a
Celebration of Life Saturday, March 31, 2018, from 2-4 pm. At 3 pm we will have a time
of reflection and sharing of stories.
