Dorothy Morrison

Dorothy (Dot) Hicks Morrison, 90, left her earthly shell behind and entered the eternal Kingdom of Heaven on January 26, 2014. She was born in Sand Mountain, AL and has been a resident of Chattanooga and North Georgia for more than 70 years. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

She had a passion for serving others. But her greatest love was for her family which included her husband, Tom Morrison, parents, Willie and Onie Hicks, her four sisters and one brother, all who preceded her in death.

Those who had the great honor of experiencing her love until the very end include her daughter, Diane (Mack) McCarley and son Dee (Peggy) Morrison. Six granddaughters-- Tyra (Greg) Gray, Kristi (Jon) Hill, Kim (Dean) Henderson, Andrice (Kris) Buettner, Eva Morrison and Beth (Steve) Sawyer; two grandsons Lee (Kelly) McCarley and Adam Hollis; nine great-grandchildren, Lauren Gray, Jacob Isenhower, Michael Henderson, Amber and Ashton Buettner, Ashton and Christian Sawyer, Josh, Jordan, Jackie, and Jeremy Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

She had careers at Container Corporation and she retired from Textile Printing.

The family would also like to thank her caregivers Anne Cross, who became her best friend, Gail McCleary and Lorietta Hubbard. You were a Godsend and we love you very much.

A celebration of Mrs. Morrison’s life will be held on Thursday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with Dr. Bill Owens and Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens South. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, January 30.

Pallbearers are Greg Gray, Jon Hill, Lee McCarley, Steve Sawyer, Jacob Isenhower, Gene Williford, Earl Durham and Lan Hilliard.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421 in Mrs. Morrison’s memory.
