

Mr. Higgins was a graduate of Winter haven High School and the University of Miami where he played in the Marching Band.
He was an avid bridge player and a member of the Chattanooga Stamp Club and a 50 year member of the Civitan Club where he had served as the Governor of the Florida District and the Appalachian District Secretary. He and his wife were members of St. Martin Episcopal Church.
He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Higgins was retired from both the Tampa Electric Company (TECO) after 27 years of service and TVA after 10 ½ years of service.
He adored his beloved pet Twinkles.
His daughter, Linda Higgins preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Martha Higgins; daughters, Leslie (David) Burke; Janet (Kevin) Hair; and Jennifer Williams all of Chapin, South Carolina; step-son, Michael (Victoria) O’Bresly of Piedmont, California; six grandchildren, Heather, Anna, Sarah, Jessica, Carolina, & Catherine; and 3 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Addison, & Hunter.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin Episcopal Church with Rev. Gordon Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Civitan Club and the Chattanooga Stamp Club.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.
