James R. Basham

Randy was in the United States Air Force where he served at Department of Defense during his military career. He proudly served his country and wore his military ball cap everywhere he went.

Randy was a member of the Plumbers and Seamfitters UA Local 43 of Chattanooga. He was known as “The Cigarette Man” by many people as he serviced cigarette vending machines with Janco. Giving up punching the time clock he retired from Wal-Mart where he worked in maintenance. He was of the Methodist Faith.

Randy is preceded in death by his wife Blanche B. Basham; father James R. Basham; mother Vada Jo Basham; brother Robert B. Basham.

He is survived by his sister Jo Ann ( Billy) Polk of Milton, Fl; God Daughter Sabrina (Nathan) Doggette of Harrison, TN and Grand God Daughter Amber (Christopher) Pearce of Johnson City, TN; several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

Randy had a love for sports, Go Steelers! He was also an avid Braves Baseball fan. You had to time your phone calls around football, baseball and the news. He enjoyed sitting and talking about the good ol’ days and the people he met along the way. He spoke fondly of time spent with his nephews JC Basham, Jimmy Polk and niece Debby Newberry. Tuesday’s were a highlight, where he rode around with his oldest friend Cathy delivering flowers from her shop Chantilly Lace Florist. To my cousin Tommy Basham. “You take my place as the oldest Basham and head of the family now”

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Advantage Funeral 7 Cremation Services, Franklin – Strickland Chapel.

Interment will be held at later date in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
