

James served as the Administrative Assistant to the CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation, where he retired after 32 years.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp; holding the position of Staff Sergeant during the Korean War from 1949 to 1953, where he was stationed at Paris, SC.
James was a avid camper, he and his wife started camping after he retired from Norfolk Southern in 1986. They traveled extensively over North America. He loved spending time with family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria 'Tony' De Grouchy; parents, Philip J. and Jessie Lee De Grouchy; brothers, Philip J. De Grouchy, Jr. and Walter 'Jerry' De Grouchy.
Those left behind to cherish his memories include his son, Darryl (Kathy) De Grouchy of Chesapeake, VA; daughters, Denyse De Grouchy and Deidre 'Didi' Goodrich, both of Hixson, TN; grandchildren, Phillip L. Goodrich, Sr., Paul L. Goodrich, Jordan M. Dacosta, Angela 'Angie' Elko and Nicole M. Beymer; great grandchildren, Phillip L. Jr., Chase, Mason, Devin James, Brooklyn, Fitzgerald 'Fitz', Mariyah, King David and Gunner; many beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
A special "Thank You" to Story Point Chattanooga and Hospice of Chattanooga for the care provided to our father over the last 2 years.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at later date.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or plant a tree in James' (Jimmy) memory.
