James Matthew Gilbreath

Matt was born July 23, 1986, in Chattanooga. He spent his early years in growing up in East Ridge. He and the family moved to Sand Mountain in Dade County, Ga., in 2001, where he made many friends and extended family. He lived the last six years of his life in Rossville.

Matt was known as a hard worker, and a generous, dependable person who would bend over backwards to help his friends. He enjoyed fishing, boating, playing the guitar, drawing, and being around his friends.

Matt attended McBrien Elementary, East Ridge Middle, and Dade County Middle and High Schools.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Rogers, his parents, Willie and Carolyn “Sissy” Gilbreath, and the mother of his child, Shana Stevens.

Matt is survived by his brother, Scott Gilbreath, his biological son, Jayden Alexander Gilbreath (Gordy), his companion Julie Fussel, and a host of friends and acquaintances in the East Ridge, Chattanooga, and Dade county areas.

There will be no formal service and Matt will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, Scott asks you make donations to a drug addiction charity of your choice, and/or directly to the funeral home to help cover costs.
